Brittania Weatherspoon-North, Children’s Book Illustrator and Writer of Children’s Literature and Fictional Short Stories
Brittania is a Western Massachusetts-based illustrator whose style is best suited to children’s picture books, early readers and humorous comics. She uses pencil and coloring pencils or the digital drawing app, GIMP. She does not use AI in her work at any time. Some of Brittania’s favorite things to create are intersections between humans and animals, whether through interacting with one another or with animals in anthropomorphic scenes. She also enjoys drawing small towns and cities and the surprising things that may occur within them. When not drawing or creating art, Brittania can be found hanging out with her kids and husband, gardening, reading, and using therapeutic techniques to try to get her family’s cats to live in harmony (she has not yet been successful).
Meet an adorable, little hedgehog in the bathroom of his home. Warm, vibrant colors were used to create a feeling of comforting normalcy and engaging lightheartedness.
I created this twisted fairy tale scene depicting what the lives of the Three Little Pigs might have been like before moving out of their family home, if the story took place more modern times.
This is the opening scene in a story that I wrote as a personal project. It is currently unpublished and I would love to speak to any publishers who might be interested in finding out more about this story.

I enjoy working in grayscale tones as it often reminds me of growing up and reading the comics in the newspaper that my parents bought on Sundays. I hope to bring to my audience the same warmth and sense of levity that I feel when I think of this.
